The board and membership have agreed that we will not host Springfest this year.
This event is one we have enjoyed putting on each year to raise funds for the club and to support to local ham radio community. However, last year it was getting harder to get vendors to commit to attending and the ones that came were indicating that they probably were not going to be doing these types of events for much longer.
It’s not worth the time and effort to put on an event of this type and have a venue that is mostly empty.
Throughout the remainder of this year we will be exploring options. Do we try and host a Springfest the way we have for years, or do we try and come up with a different kind of event that will work and reflect the times we are in. Unfortunately, it appears that it’s getting a lot harder for the smaller ham events to operate compared to years past.
As soon as we have more information on what direction the club will take we will make sure to get the word out to everyone.
CARS appreciates all the local hams who have supported us over the years and we appreciate those vendors that always came out and helped us provide something for you, the local amateur operator.
We also appreciate the Moose Lodge officials who graciously allowed us the use of their facility each year.
