What is Ham of the Year?
The Chesapeake Amateur Radio Service started awarding Ham Of The Year awards in 2006 to those individuals the club membership felt went beyond the call of duty to promote ham radio in a positive light, as well as their individual work within CARS. Bob Armstrong, WA4SQL, was a very active ham within CARS who loved the club and wanted to see it always do well in everything it embarked on. Bob became a silent key (SK) several years ago and now his spirit and memory will live on every year this award is given out.
