Good morning!
Just a reminder that we have a good presentation lined up for the April general meeting. Raymond, DK9XR / KK4NBF will be coming to visit us from Germany to give a technical presentation on Johnson Power Poles.
The Tech classes are currently in progress at the shack. Due to the classes being on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, this month’s board meeting has been moved to Wednesday, March 30th at 7:30 PM to not conflict with the class session Tuesday evening. Want to see if we can accommodate someone in the class, email Paul, K4PRB at k4prb@arrl.net.
The VA QSO party was a challenge to operate Saturday. Sunday was much better. We have a little over 150 contacts at the club event. Remember, if you participated in the QSO party, you can help the club get credit for your contacts by including CARS as your club in the contest submission file.
All club dues were supposed to have been in by January. However, we extended the time to allow folks to get their dues in for this year. All members who have not renewed will be purged from the roster at the end of the month. If you have been meaning to get your dues in for this year please make sure you have contacted Tom the Treasurer with your intent to get your payment in so we keep you on the roster. His email is tomemitchell@cox.net.
Springfest is coming! We have several volunteers who will be assisting getting the Moose Lodge ready for the event on April 10th. However, we only have two people who have volunteered to handle parking. That’s not enough people. One, we need at least three people working the event and we need another 3 to 4 people who will give relief to those who are manning the parking lot at the beginning of the day. Please contact us if you are able to help out so we can work out a better schedule for the parking folks.
By now everyone should have received tickets in the mail. So if you know of people who want tickets to Springfest, please sell them their tickets and hold on to the funds until you see Tom and turn the funds over.
If you have purchased tables for Springfest and have questions about your order, email Tom or Bill Runyon, WF4R for an update on your tables. Tom is tomemitchell@cox.net, Bill is WF4R@Arrl.net.
Field Day. This year’s Field Day is going to be at Deep Creek Locks Park. I am in need of someone who is good at coordinating and managing people to help out as Field Day Chairman. Looking for a challenge? Can’t think of one more challenging other than Springfest. Let me know if you’re interested in taking the reins on putting on this year’s event.
Bill Fairing is handing organizing this year’s support for Tour de Cure in Suffolk at the end of April. I know a sign up sheet was passed around at the last meeting. If you were not able to attend but want to assist with the event, please let Bill know. His email is bill.specialtymarine@att.net.
Also, don’t forget the clubs monthly ARES meetings. If you are interested in finding out more about how you can assist with emergency communication needs for Chesapeake, contact Steve Nowak at ke8yn@verizon.net.
As always please check the site often. Some people I am finding we have email address information that is no longer good. Also you are able to register for email updates whenever a new post is added to the website. The email updates are for posts only. Not for new or updated pages (IE, Springfest page, etc.). The new club roster will be going out shortly at the beginning of April. Please review to make sure we have the correct information for contact.
Look forward to seeing everyone at the April meeting on April 4th 7:30 pm.
