Want to upgrade your Amateur Radio license to General and gain additional HF privileges?
The Chesapeake Amateur Radio Service (CARS) will be conducting an in-person General Course starting Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 1:00 PM EST. The course will shift to Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM and will run through Thursday, July 29, 2021. Each session will run for 2 hours.
The course is designed to discuss the General license material and to review test questions associated with the material. Like the Technician license, some of the material does not lend itself well to group discussion. Material in the first three chapters discusses (introduction to amateur radio and the General license, Procedures and Practices, and Rules and Regulations) is similar to material you experienced when taking the Technician license test. The course will leave this material up to you to review. The course will cover the remaining chapters led by a CARS instructor and utilizing class participation and test question review.
How do I signup?
Anyone interested should contact Duane Ettwein, KJ4YKG at treasurer@w4car.org providing their name, phone number, and email address.
Cost
There is no cost for taking the course.
Location
The classes will be held in-person at the CARS Shack at 116 Reservation Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322.
Course Material
The course will utilize the ARRL General Class License Manual, Ninth Edition. This manual can be purchased through the ARRL Store or from the course lead (Duane Ettwein, KJ4YKG) at a discounted price.
