The Battle of Great Bridge Reenactment – Operators needed!

W4CAR in cooperation with the City of Chesapeake, Parks and Recreation and the Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways History Foundation will be conducting a Special Event commemorating the Battle of Great Bridge fought on December 9, 1775. The Special Event will take place during the city’s battle reenactment event on Saturday and Sunday, December 5th and 6th, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. each day. The reenactment takes places at Battlefield Park South right next to the club’s shack. The Special Event will be broadcast from our shack.

The battle was the first major Revolutionary War armed conflict in Virginia and the first Patriot victory of the Revolutionary War. A QSL Certificate is available via email for those making contacting. The certificate is a personalized PDF file suitable for printing and framing. To receive your certificate, log onto our website at www.w4car.org and register your name, call sign, and email address. Certificates will be created and sent to those found in our logs following the event.

Operators will be needed for this event. If you would enjoy being an operator with musket and cannon fire going off right outside our shack door then contact Duane Ettwein, KJ4YKG, at email address: dettwein@live.com or phone: 757-482-7392. We are planning on having two stations on the air requiring 6, 2 hour slots to be filled each day (12 slots over the two days).
